Airports / Chennai
Aviation jobs at Chennai airport.
Chennai is one of the largest airports still operated by the Airports Authority of India itself, which makes it unusual: the operator, the air traffic control and much of the airside establishment are all AAI, a single government employer. Around that core, IndiGo and the Air India group provide the airline jobs, Bird Airport Services handles ground operations, AIESL maintains aircraft, and Chennai's role as a southern cargo gateway adds freight work.

Chennai airport careers — FAQ.
Unlike Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru or Hyderabad, the airport operator at MAA is the Airports Authority of India — a public-sector employer. Terminal management, airside operations, fire services, ATC and CNS roles here are AAI posts filled through AAI's national recruitment (Junior Executive / Junior Assistant exams), with the job security and transfer policy of a PSU.
IndiGo and the Air India group (including Air India Express) are the main employers stationing crew at MAA, with SpiceJet also operating. Cargo flying is a Chennai specialty: Blue Dart Aviation, India's dedicated express-freight airline, is associated with Chennai, giving B737 freighter pilots and engineers a rare non-passenger option.
Bird Airport Services commenced third-party ground handling at Chennai and AI Airport Services (AIASL) covers Air India group flights; both hire ramp, passenger services and load control staff locally. Airlines also hire their own airport services teams for MAA.
AIESL lists Chennai among its maintenance stations, and every based or high-frequency carrier keeps line maintenance engineers at the airport. Freighter maintenance around Blue Dart's operation adds engineering work you won't find at most passenger-dominated airports.
